Khenpo Geshe Tenzin Dargye

Khenpo Geshe Tenzin Dargye (Tamding Gurung,) Abbot of Dhorpatan, was born on April 7, 1965 in Jomson Mustang, Nepal. His fatehr tutored him at home until the age of nine, when he was sent to study in India.  Five years later - inspired by his grandparents and his desire to help the impoverished - he decided to become a monk.

In April, 1996, Khenpo received his Geshe Degree from the Bön Dialectic School at sMenri Monastery in Dolanji, India. Over the next six years he worked as an organizer for the Bön Children’s Welfare Center and for the Dispensary. He was transferred to Dhorpatan in western Nepal, where he helped renovate Bön Monasteries and aided the poor and elderly citizens.

To this day, Khenpo continues to work for the DIspensary in Dhorpatan and is actively involved in eliminating poverty in Nepal. He provides assistance to impoverished children in the pursuit of education and recently established a Tibetan medical center to provide health services in rural areas. He also teaches about Bön around the world in an effort to share the culture with the people of other nations.
